ODC's mission is to provide services to enhance the lives of those who have serious employment challenges including developmental disabilities, mental illness, brain injury, and the chronically unemployed, so that they may be successful at seeking, obtaining and retaining employment commensurate with their abilities and to operate supportive work environments for those who are unlikely to obtain market-based employment.

"A Foot In The Door" is a course designed for long-term unemployed people or people who are frequently unemployed. It is free and participants get a peak-rate bus pass.
It is accredited through the National Open College Network (NOCN) and participants can gain up to 6 credits at levels 1 or 2 through the core elements of the course: Communication Skills, ***Occupational Development***, Personal Development, Social Development and Group Development.

S.T.E.P. - Support, Training and Enterprise Programme
Step is a unique response to the needs of young unemployed people. This personal and ***vocational development programme*** is open to eighteen to twenty-five year olds without a Leaving Certificate. It provides opportunities to discover strengths, to sample new situations, to set goals and to find out about opportunities. The programme includes work experience, vocational training (computer training) job search skills, group work and informal learning.

This initiative, which has been in operation since 1997, has found work for 409 people, who have benefited from the 704 jobs created, and participants include 12 ***vocational development and rehabilitation centres*** and 13 enterprises in the construction sector.
