Spanish term
atenuación del aumento
Spanish to English
Other
Economics
I'm not sure about "atenuación" here. Does it mean that the participation rate still increased but the increase slowed down, or does it mean that the rate stopped increasing altogether?
Thanks for any help.

slower rise [in the rate]
Keep it simple. Also, this frees up 'rate' for use where it's needed later in the sentence.

rate of increase decreased
Sounds funny, but makes perfect sense in differential terms - the sign of the first oder derivate is still positive, but its magnitude is smaller.

: But then you would have 'rate of increase in the rate'.

Thanks Muriel. I know it's a bit of a mouthful but it means "rate of decrease of the rate of increase". Even with a Maths degree it takes me a while to get it :-)

I rather like this metaphor & I think it could be worked into your sentence
