Spanish term

carta solidaria

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Transport / Transportation / Shipping Trade/Legal
El proveedor debe entregar una carta solidaria original emitida del fabricante donde se le autoriza la distribución del producto.

I've seen guarantee letter, etc. in Proz glossaries, etc., but in this context, I'm wondering whether "solidaria" has more the meaning of "joint and several." This is my proposed translation:
The supplier must submit an original letter, issued by the manufacturer and signed by both of them, authorizing the supplier to distribute the product.

This is from a Mexican document for the US, talking about the procurement of personal protection devices for the workplace. This letter is only required when it's a distributor providing the product, not the manufacturer by itself.

I'm very grateful for your input.

supporting letter

The basic notion of "solidaridad" is that of supporting, and it fits in this context. The term is notoriously awkward to translate in some cases.

Formal usage example:
"They must bear the official stamp of the bank on every page, or you must also provide a supporting letter from your bank, on company headed paper, confirming ..."

I wouldn't bother trying to shoehorn in legalisms like "joint and several". It's just a letter confirming authorization.

agree Charles Davis : I don't think "solidario" has the technical meaning of "in sólidum" here. It's sometimes called a "carta solidaria de respaldo/apoyo", so "supporting letter" looks right.
