Without being bound by theory, it is believed that upon exposure (e.g. to body fluids), the pre-formulations of the in ventioninvention lose some or all of the organic sol ventsolvent included therein (e.g. by diffusion and/or evaporation) and in some cases take in aqueous fluid from the bodily environment (e.g. moist air close to the body or the in vivo environment) such that at least a part of the formulation generateslipid formulations generate a non-lamellar, particularly liquid crystalline phase structure.
