English term

sub-sequential number

Non-PRO English to French Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals pharmacovigilance
Each update of the PSMF implies the creation of a new version number, consisting of a main version number and a sub-sequential number.
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (1): Daryo

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

This is not really a "medical" question it's more about data structures, more related to IT.

English term (edited): a sub-sequential number
Selected

un numéro séquentiel de la sous-version

a new version number, consisting of a main version number and a sub-sequential number.
=>
... and a sequential number for numbering the sub-versions

=

this system seems to be inspired by the way versions of software are numbered:

there is a "main" version number for major changes and "sub-version" numbers for minor improvements/updates

The relevant part:

You can find a lot about the structure of the Pharmacovigilance System Master File (PSMF)

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=pharmacovigilance system master fi...

but I couldn't find instructions for the numbering of versions, as the file keeps growing.

Still the mention of a "main version number" is a clear indication that they use a numbering system with a "main version" number followed by a "sub-version" number - you can't have a "main" version if there are no minor/sub versions.

another way of looking at it:

a sub-sequential number = a sub(version) number that is sequential

numéro de la version subséquente

https://wet-boew.github.io › unmin › docs › versions › version-info-fr
Peer comment(s):

disagree Daryo : that would imply that they simply keep incrementing a plain version number, in which case there wouldn't be any need to resort to a "main" version number

Not necessarily there could be the root number and the latest increment
