French term

Célébration des signatures

French to English Social Sciences Human Resources employee satisfaction research
Hello,

This appears as the answer to a question asking whether there is something special or unique that makes the organisation a good place to work. The answer only consists of these three words, there is no further direct context although it seems the organisation (in Paris) is fun to work for, celebrates individuality and they have a brilliant day trip for each new batch of employees!

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Karen Chalmers (asker) Oct 14, 2019:
Thank you all! Sorry I was so slow to reply, things got rather hectic! I have double checked to be sure and it is indeed an onboarding celebration.
Ph_B (X) Oct 13, 2019:
For information, There's something called cérémonie des signatures in the French army, during which young recruits are officially welcomed after having signed their contract, for instance: https://www.sengager.fr/decouvrez-l-armee-de-terre/nos-actua... Wouldn't that support the idea that this célébration des signatures is about celebrating new employees?
Wolf Draeger Oct 13, 2019:
@Asker Do you know what business the company is in and if the questionnaire was sent to all employees or only those in specific departments (e.g. sales)?
Wolf Draeger Oct 13, 2019:
Victoria's suggestion Seems most likely to me; maybe a regular (monthly, quarterly) blow-out to celebrate the contracts or clients landed that period.
Lorraine Dubuc Oct 13, 2019:
The equivalent of onboarding celebration. An original way of saying it in French.
Stephanie Benoist Oct 13, 2019:
it could refer to the day trip for new employees, "signing on" with the company. if it's a law firm, maybe when the parties are all in a conference room together and sign an agreement or contract drawn up by the attorneys.
Victoria Britten Oct 13, 2019:
Party? Could it be that they hold a party when they get a new (particularly big/juicy) contract? Just a thought.

Yvonne Gallagher Oct 13, 2019:
@ Karen so maybe the daytrip for new employees is what this respondent is referring to? i.e. perhaps that's the (informal) name of the trip? Otherwise I'd say it's about celebrating individuality. Can you ask the client?
