Spanish term

voceo

Spanish to English Other Fisheries Español chileno
Hola

Lydia De Jorge Mar 27, 2020:
Agree with Phil. Feels like we are being asked to do the bulk of the work someone else is being paid for.
philgoddard Mar 27, 2020:
Yes It's OK to ask about a couple of words, but not ten seconds of high-speed Spanish.
Jane Martin (X) Mar 27, 2020:
I think Guillermo wants to know what they are actually saying rather than a translation for voceo. I've listened and it's quite challenging.

hawking (their wares)

Vendors who proclaim aloud the availability of their goods on the street hawk them.
Interesting note:
The first use of the expression "alive and kicking", sometimes shortened to live and kicking, was originally used by fishmongers HAWKING THEIR WARES to convince customers of their freshness...

Hawking is really just shouting out... One hawking shout I used to hear quite a lot in Spain in autumn is "calentitas, las castañitas"... :-)

"In Hogarth's picture series, the woman's open mouth holds in perpetuity her hawking shout."

A more modern-day street hawker's shout in my hometown of Glasgow might be "Get your sports socks, 3 for a pound"... There is a street market there called The Barras which is famous for its hawkers, some of whom were/are extremely entertaining as comic turns.

neutral philgoddard : You've misunderstood the question, which doesn't belong on KudoZ.

Spanish term or phrase: voceo = hawking. If they want a transcription, that'll be an hourly rate... :-)
agree Lydia De Jorge : This is not really what the asker is looking for (as Phil points out), but it is the correct answer to the question posted. I hope you're staying in.//// Trust me, I 'understand things differently' all the time! Be well!

I hate being told I've "misunderstood" anything, even when I clearly have. I just like to see it as "understanding differently" :-)
