Po prawie dwóch dobach jest tylko jedna odpowiedź na pytanie geopieta w parze EN-EN. Podtrzymuję moje zdanie: należy tłumaczyć dosłownie, a co się czytelnikom skojarzy, to tylko od nich zależy.

Można również zamieścić przypis na podstawie opinii Althei Draper. Przy większej liczbie pytań przypisy mogłyby być dłuższe niż sama powieść.

Przy okazji: Frank podchodzi do "coffee pot" i wtedy Hawkeye pyta go o "tapping stuff".
Hasło "tapping stuff" wywołuje takie filmy: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=tapping stuff , natomiast "tapping coffee" otwiera np. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nyt9DcSFinI .

Czy Hawkeye pod wyrazem "stuff" miał na myśli kawę? Reakcja Franka świadczy, że chyba raczej na pewno ;-) nie. Cytat ze scenariusza utwierdza w takiej opinii. Jak w tym kontekście przetłumaczyć "stuff", to już pozostawiam Szanownej Pytaczce.

I tu jest problem. Justyna tłumaczy powieść. Czy sceny z filmu i/albo serialu mogą mieć wpływ na tłumaczenie, czy może lepiej będzie aż do zakończenia pracy nie oglądać i nie słuchać?

BTW zdaje się, że to będzie pierwsze tłumaczenie tej powieści na polski. Ktoś przeczytał w oryginale: https://historia.org.pl/2018/12/25/mash-a-novel-about-three-... - może szkoda, że nie skorzystał z okazji. Mógł zostać tłumaczem...

Co do "tap stuff", to sugeruję zadać oddzielne pytanie. Na razie sugeruję uwzględnić cały akapit (link do powieści - u geopieta):

Hawkeye siedzi, je śniadanie i zaprasza Franka, aby usiadł obok. Przecież jest dobry dzień na posadzenie kur na jajach, więc posiedźmy jak kury na jajach (i teraz zgaduję: czyli długo i bezczynnie - może dzisiaj nie przywiozą żadnego rannego).

Tak to sobie dedukuję. Niczego bardziej wyrafinowanego nie wymyślę. ;-)
