: Yes, it is necessary to include the word "ejido" in Spanish, as the Mexican ejido is a specific and particular kind of communal land. Note that Luis's examples also confirm this.

I think you hit on it in your explanation. The above is from the "Glosario Internacional para el Traductor", Marina Orellana. She adds, in parenthesis: "... given by Government to a community to famr, and not susceptible to division, transfer, sale or mortgage). You might want to add some of this if space permits.

: In Mexico the proper term would be "common land" or "common threshing land", that's how the Agriculture and Hydraulic Resources Secretariat calls it
