Glossary entry (derived from question below)
English term or phrase:
high voltage coils
French translation:
enroulement HT (haute tension)
English term
high voltage coils
Would anyone know how to translate high voltage coils in French please?
Alternative terms for high voltage coils include high tension coils, preformed coils and preformed windings but I can't work out which of these are used in French.
Thanks!

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Thank you so much this looks quite comprehensive ! |
Discussion
Est-ce que "bobinage" marcherait mieux éventuellement ?
'Enroulement' really translates 'winding', and as such, is usually appropriate for a motor or transformer, for example, that uses these.
'Bobine' tends to be the one we use for a stand-alone coil regarded as an electrical or electronic component — though there is quite a lot of overlap!
'Spire' may even be used, when the 'coil' refers in fact to one 'turn' of something that is of the nature of a 'spiral'
And other words may be found, where the 'coil' is regarded from the point of view of its circuit function (as is often the case in FR compared to EN) — so we may find 'self' where the coil acts in some way as a 'choke', and 'inductance' or 'réactance' where this is the kind of function it has — though note that 'réactance' is to be deprecated, since out of context, that could equally apply to a capcitance!
'Bobine haute tension' is the translation I provided and it is not correct :(
Here is an example of high voltage coils:

the first picture should be brought up for a Google image search of the correct term.
Here is an excerpt of the text. It is a shame I can not post pictures as they speak better than words sometimes!
All our high voltage coils are manufactured in-house and we offer a full range of resin rich, global VPI and B-Stage cured insulation systems to meet a wide range of industrial applications, power generation and various other specialist applications. With total control over quality, we manufacture stator, armature, field, and rotor coils for all types of motors and generators up to 15kV.
