Também julgo Também julgo ser importante destacar na gravura, o umbigo, centro gravitacional da figura humana. Parece que o umbigo tem o seu quê de beleza.
Penso que a sugestão do Matheus é válida (contexto da Heráldica) e a sugestão do Nick também é bem adequada (contexto da História), ou das Artes (estética)... todos estes contextos determinarão a tradução mais apropriada.

@Nick - I think I see your point Nick, I believe that I understand your point. The thing seems to be like this: it is an analogy in English (a man resembling an eagle) and it is used figuratively. However, the analogy may not work well in Portuguese. In Portuguese, the same analogy simply does not exist. And you know what? I think you are right.
I haven't found analogies between this human position and an eagle in the same position in Portuguese either.

If that is really the case, a description like yours (figura com os braços e pernas estendidos) is more suitable than trying to "create" an analogy which will probably fail to convey the same meaning.

I am afraid as usual Wikipedia is not always the best source. BUT show me the wiki entry for "figura da águia de asas abertas" related to a human with its arms and legs extended - YOU GOT ME :-)

All searches for "figura da águia de asas abertas" are literal - I can find no figurative references. And I repeat "spread-eagle" is not figurative.

Ao olharmos para a gravura, parece que os membros superiores e inferiores da figura humana formam uma cruz e dá uma ideia de movimento da figura dentro do círculo e do quadrado.
