Я бы оставил "действующий (может быть, даже и.о. - по аналогии с французским en exerciсе, т.е. in office), так как, возможно, имеет порядок ротационный порядок занятия сей должности. В общем, пребывание в ней ограничено во времени - отсюда in office. Имхо, как и обычно.

Андрей, спасибо, что откликнулись. Весь документ на иврите, речь идет об Израиле, на английском только одна эта фраза. Я так понимаю, что это действующий директор, сомнение вызывает другое - еще бывает недействующий?

@o_delia Вас не затруднит полностью привести фразу (если можно, с указанием страны происхождения)? Имхо, in office относится к director и указывает на то, что имярек в настоящее время трудится в этой должности. Спасибо.
