French term
la civilisation technicienne
French to English
Social Sciences
Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.
A reference from a work by E.A. Gutkind (in English, The Twilight of Cities), in which urban decline is attributed apparently to "le développement de la mobilité et de la civilisation technicienne."
I cannot find the original reference from the book translation anywhere online, and am hesitating as to translating as "technology civilization" or "technological civilization" or a different term. I'm working on the translation of an academic article, essentially a review of the literature on urban shrinkage.
I would appreciate input, especially from anyone who knows the term as used here in French social science/social commentary.
Thanks!

Note from asker:
Thanks for your input! However, as noted by rkillings in the discussion, this was a pre-computer-age reference. |

digital civilisation
Got the idea as we do talk about the digital revolution. Google give some confirmation but not as much as I would have imagined

Thanks for the assistance - I had to go with advice from the discussion thread ("technology civilization") as this term was used pre-digital-age! |
