This is part of the description of the "Zweiwegeteil" (rail-road component) of the rail drive system of a truck, enabling it to travel on rails, to clean them, in this case. The other parts described are the Schienenführungseinrichtung, Schienenfahrwerk and Schieneräder.
Using devastating logic, it would mean the distance between the inside of the wheels but maybe my logic is totally devastating!
