Norwegian term

AF-leder

Norwegian to English Bus/Financial Human Resources
"En hendelse kan granskes lokalt av Driftssjef/AF-leder/Forpleiningsleder og lokalt verneombud, eventuelt med assistanse fra HMSK-avdelingen, HVO og/eller eksterne konsulenter."

Is this simply "Arbeidsforhold leder" ("Working Conditions Manager")? References preferred if available.

Discussion

Charles Ek (asker) May 9, 2012:
I'd already been down all the paths trod here by "the bright heads". :-) Context is lacking but there is a hint of some offshore aspect, given the popularity of the fishbone diagram in those precincts: http://tinyurl.com/782p2o2
brigidm May 9, 2012:
I just searched IE's website for "AF" and only got a few mentions of Akademikernes Fellesforbund, which I also think unlikely here. Could you supply more context, Charles? Is this offshore-related?
Leif Henriksen May 9, 2012:
Not the same AF, I'd say Hans, I think the Mr. Løfblad in your reference at that time (actually 19 years ago) was the local union representative for Akademikernes Fellesforbund in the then still existing Oslo Energi. It is pretty clear to me that this is not the same AF as in Charles' text.
Hans Wang May 9, 2012:
Union position It looks like it is some kind of union position and a search on google in Norway shows that other companies have the same, including Oslo Energi: http://www.newswire.no/?melding=1999&start=20&bilde=721&sear...
Leif Henriksen May 9, 2012:
Another possible contact These 'AF-ledere' seems to be employed by ESS Support Services AS, so this could also be a contact to check - http://www.ess-norway.com/
brigidm May 9, 2012:
I give up. I think Leif's suggestion of contacting SAFE is the best bet.
brigidm May 9, 2012:
Another clue I found this http://www.ieklubben.no/files/0805_ess_support_services_as.p... which contains a notice from "AF leder
Knut Olav Grimdalen" It's a newletter published by ESS Support Services AS. "A" could stand for "Anlegg" - but don't discount the possibility of an English title, especially in the offshore industry.
brigidm May 9, 2012:
Unlikely See here http://www.ieklubben.no/files/0803_ess_support_services_as.p... :
"AF-leder har også jobbet meget godt for å få til oversikt over belastninger som de ansatte
utsettes for, eksempelvis gjennom å kartlegge kraften som brukes i dører."

It must be something with "arbeids***".
Leif Henriksen May 9, 2012:
Offshore? I also see the term used a few times in relation to offshore employment, but I can not find any explanation. See examples:
http://www.safe.no/index.cfm?id=272218
http://www.safe-ess.com/index.cfm?id=283478

If none of the bright heads here have an expalantion, maybe a phone call to the union for offshore workers - SAFE - could shed some light?
Leif Henriksen May 9, 2012:
Probably not Your suggestion is rather far fetched. I have never seen or heard it used this used this way in Norwegian. My first guess, if it could otherwise fit in, would be that this is a document for AF Gruppen (sic) - a leading contractor and industrial operator. http://www.afgruppen.com/
