From Guatemala: "...algunos insumos de diagnóstico (vasos para recolectar muestras, laminillas, palillos para extendido)..." That's the list. The test concerned is AFB smear (for TB). Not tongue depressors? Instruments for smearing samples? This sounds to me like "thingamajig", is there anything more specific? (Doc, are you still awake? ;-))

Aquí en USA tanto a los palillos para extendido como al extendido mismo en este contexto se los llama "swab". Dado que tu texto es una enumeración de insumos, podrías aclarar "swabs for AFB smear".
