Thank you everyone for your input and suggestions.
Right now a translation outsourcer can register as a "freelancer and outsourcer" at which point they are able to bid on jobs that have been marked as "freelancers only". In addition, because of their registration as outsourcers, they are able to sidestep the "native language" requirement - essentially, they can bid on anything.

This specific bug has been addressed. When outsourcers post a job and select "Freelancer only" those with account type "Freelance and outsourcer" will only be permitted to reply to the job if that profile owner also meets the language requirements specified in the job post.
Thank you everyone else for your suggestions and feedback - your feedback will be incorporated in to the list of possible improvements.

Skip the max of 60 days as a payment condition, make 30 the max. Sometimes I have to wait 90 days for my payment. If the outsourcer has to, or wants to mention something zbout the payment conditions, 30 days would be just fine.

I have never understood the reason why people post their full CV on the profile. If a customer posts a job you can send him some examples of customer feedback, some of your language certificates and similar information.
Or hint at your Proz.Com professional status indicated by the "P" logo and the therewith associated quality. If I quote for one project only I *never* send a CV .
Only bidding for orders of public authorities in Germany require signing a self-confirmation that you pay your taxes and social insurance contributions. Sometimes added by a receipt of the health insurance of a former year. And just remember: The risk is not on the side of the project owner, it´s on your side (whether the translation is paid or not).
You also wouldn´t require a doctor or a lawyer to send you his full CV before using the services offered!
Therefore the best way to protect your CV is: Don´t send it to everyone.
To advance one step further: Confidentiality of information and avoiding a surplus of personal information shows your credibility!

Not everyone in the translation industry is a translator. Maybe add new jobs or services to the new site might be useful (like converting memories, aligning data and verify aligned data, evaluations, QA based delivery control for third parties...) I'm often looking for people with those skill and I'm sure they exist, but they are not listed here.

It would be very useful to be able to search the directory of freelance translators also on the basis of their rates information, among other specifications (top language pairs, fields of specialization, country etc.).

I think this would promote price dumping.
There are serious rates for serious translations. If someone cannot pay these rates he/she should review his/her business model.

I have to agree with my other two colleagues who have expressed their misgivings about rate-based searches. It would inevitably force down rates throughout Proz (turning it into a Translators' Café). The only possible beneficiaries would be bottom feeders, as Walter says.
Ideally, searches should be based on quality, but how can we ever define that?

I do believe (and the site short poll about 3 days ago confirms my views) that most of the language specialists taught or are teaching or would like to teach. So it seems only logical to add this option to the profile as one of the language services a person provides.

This is a big surprise to me, since EVERYBODY asks for a CV, and Proz.com encourages members to post one. Could you provide any further evidence about this problem? Has there been press coverage of it? (Any language) Does the Proz.com staff have anything to say about it? Any lawyers here who know about the subject?
