The staff working over at both technical and end-user support are very helpful, friendly and replies quick, also outside normal office hours for urgent calls.
As a translator, you're assigned a contact person which handles all questions you might have, everything from how to use the platform to clarifications or questions to the material.
I've always perceived them as very professional in handling both clients and translators.
And - maby most important - they keep what they promise. Payments are never late, and have been correct for the whole period I've worked with them.

The communication flow with the client and among translators and editors is great, and Machine Translation and Translation Memories are integrated in a simple and practical fashion. A simple tool that works with any browser and OS, everywhere.

How easy is it to learn?

Maria Perdana (X) . I started using Smartling in 2010 and then again this year. Even back in 2010 this tool was already friendly and the 2013 version is really a blast.
The part that I like the most is how I can actually check the context and text positions during web translation projects. This is extremely helpful because most web and apps translations are also about positions and character counts. With Smartling I can easily see the live layout without having to create blurry imaginations on how my translation would look like, or predicting the character count with strenuous effort. I believe this feature is important for both translator and the client.
The tool itself is easy to load, no prolonged downtime, easy loading even on slow connections, no broken links, no hideous loading issues. The interface is simple, clean, easy to learn and not menacing - simply wonderful!
I definitely recommend this tool - Smartling is indeed "smart".

How easy is it to learn?
Unbeatable approach to website and online translation

Idea Translations . The Smartling Translation Management System is an unbeatable approach to website and online apps translation. Translators are able to complete translations online and within context.
The biggest challenge we faced when translating websites in the past was to get the context right when we had to deal with a bunch of strings. Smartling has found a solution to this problem as translators actually get a visual of what they’re translating which makes them less likely to fall into context errors. Additionally, Smartling has a TM leverage for consistency like any other CAT tool.
Altogether, it helps improve quality and consistency thanks to the “in context” approach and the TM leverage and it’s so easy to use that we can teach our translators to use in no time even if they’ve never used a CAT tool. I recommend this tool for anyone attempting to translate a website or a mobile app.

An easy, simple & helpful tool to work with.

4localize . An easy going tool to get familiar to and work with. We have used it both as a project manager to assign jobs, split/distribute big volumed project to several translators & reviewers to work simultaneously. It gives enough features to control and follow up the translators progress.
From a translator point of view, it’s simple to use especially with the help of the glossary and the TM. Also having the instructions always there without having to ask for each project ahead, is a helpful feature. That’s plus posting the translation queries directly to client and having the answer back also directly back to me as a translator saves a lot of time.
