I voted 'No', because I have neither children nor pets. Back in the days I was actively pursuing a career as a collections analyst I had a manager who worked from home one day per week after his wife gave birth to a son and whenever I rang him he had his son on his lap. Apart from the fact that it is very annoying to discuss rather sensitive business issues against a backdrop of screaming babies, it was also very unprofessional and the shortest decisions suddenly took an hour longer than usual. ... Besides, a child on your lap deserves your fullest attention and how can you give that attention when breaking your head over a translation issue? Both activities will suffer. Not fair on the client, not fair on whomever or whatever (if it is a pet) is on your lap. ▲ Collapse | | | My cat's favourite time and place | Jun 30, 2009 |

My lap is my cat's favourite place for a snooze-fest during Winter.
I love it, though, since whenever I'm stuck on something I automatically stroke him behind the ears and half my stress levels disappear as I feel the vibration of his contented purring. It's a gazillion times better than a stress ball... and warmer!... See more My lap is my cat's favourite place for a snooze-fest during Winter.

Yes, and I don´t find that it is disturbing my production or quality | Jun 30, 2009 |
I often work with the head of a dog who spends the days here in my lap. It is a nice feeling and the only attention I give him is a stroke on the head once in a while when I am thinking about how to express something complicated in a simple manner. We are both happy with the company and I don´t find that he is distracting me at all. | | | Juliana Brown Israel Local time: 18:47 Member (2007) Spanish to English + ... I can recall sleeping babies on my shoulder as I typed (if they're asleep they can't scream or touch the keyboard, so no real interference). | |
