All roads in Melbourne lead to the city, so somewhere near the city is bound to be most convenient for most of us.

Last time I was in Melbourne, I went to this wonderful Belgian cafe. Not sure where it is though. And I must admit, it was a bit small for so many people.

Belgium cafe Jun 18, 2006

No, it was a chocolaterie or however you can call it. Beautiful Belgian truffels! But this venue seems much nicer!!!! I see they have Stella Artois! Good! I love this venue already Louis! Reminds me of the good (?) ol' days,)

Belgian Chocolates Jun 18, 2006

..lets get sinful. I assume Louis will then take us all for a jog by the Yarra to lose the calories. Saskia, if you are going, can we fly out together? It would be more fun and we can share the taxi from the Airport.

jogging Jun 18, 2006

At my age, one proceeds with dignity! Leave the jogging to the young and the mad!

Meeting place Jun 19, 2006

Another option: do you know ¨The observatory¨near the Botanic gardens?

Big bistro with plenty of space in all directions, an near the green herbs and trees. No need to jog, we can go for a walk after lunch and cross the gardens for a Devonshire tea at the other cafeteria near the lake with black swans and eels.
What do you think?

Seconding Ana Jun 19, 2006

Sounds very relaxing and conducive to good discussion. Besides, speaking as a photographer, people always look better in nice surroundings.

The Observatory Jun 20, 2006

Hi Ana, I agree with Sam on this and also think it's a good idea to travel together from Brisbane (not 100% sure yet, though). Am looking forward to seeing you again too Claudia and to meet some new collegues.

The observatory it is Jun 21, 2006

Great, a meeting in the green! Looking forward to that! It will be great to see you all back again (Sam, Saskia and Louis- sorry, I couldn't bring any white asparagus!) and to meet so many 'new' colleagues. Is there anything we ought to bring besides a smile and some sunshine?

The observatory for sure? Jun 22, 2006

Good to hear people feeling excited. If I do not receive objections within a week, I will confirm THE OBSERVATORY.
Agendas could be also suggested, I am receptive to your needs...say something.

Claudia and all of you:
You MUST bring an umbrella!
People living here believe in umbrellas in the gardens.

Or at least a raincoat.

It will be fun!
