Hi,

I have a Word document with several embedded images. How can I edit them outside MS Word? i.e. on Adobe Photoshop.
What's the tool to do that?

Thank you.
Best

How to edit images in photoshop Jan 16, 2011

Hi,
the best way to edit images embedded in a MS Word document through photoshop is to make a pdf of the page which contains the image to be edited (I recommend, when you print the single page as a pdf, to select the option "high quality"). Then, you should open the pdf page with photoshop (change the standard resolution from the standard 72dpi to 300 dpi).

Save as webpage Jan 16, 2011

Hi Daniel,

I remember that I have such your issue before, and I used to save the word file as a webpage. In the folder where you save it you will find a separate folder with all images in the word file included.

Regards,

Unzip the file Jan 16, 2011

In case you are working with DOCX, and have example.docx:

1. Copy to a safe place
2. Rename example.docx to example.zip
3. Doubleclick on example.zip
3. Locate subfolder "media" in folder "word"
4. Drag and drop "media" to unzip.

That's why open formats are so convenient and encouraged... DOCX is just a plain ZIP file.

Select the image, copy then paste into new photoshop document, edit it and the hit save. The saved imagine will appear in word.

Hi Alina,

I tried that, but it doesn't seem to work. In any case, I truly appreciate your help.

Thanks.
Best.

DOCX Jan 17, 2011

And if you're not working with a DOCX - just save the file as DOCX using either Office 2007/2010 or Office 2003 compatibility pack. That way you can take out the images and then put them back. The same with XLSX where you can edit embedded graphs.
