Yvonne Gallagher Ireland Local time: 21:17 Member (2010) French to English + ... suggest central location. as near O'Connell Bridge as possible | Oct 24, 2015 |
Salut Marie! I myself don't live in Dublin (though I'm from there!) but expect people will be coming from all directions so suggest very central location. Lots of large bars (like Messrs Maguire) around O'Connell Bridge that can take different size groups and put up some bar food. Perhaps you could drop in to them and ask? Also not sure timing is that great as many of us can't take an afternoon off or not be free that early. Maybe more towards 4 or 5 pm? See what others say...Last Powpow w... See more Salut Marie! Yvonne Gallagher Ireland Local time: 21:17 Member (2010) French to English + ... 6pm better time but location?? | Nov 7, 2015 |
Cafe en Seine not a good idea as it will be jampacked and noisy at that time on a Friday...and it's not that central either for some of us. I suggested O'Connell Bridge area since it's central for everyone...
Have you actually talked to any bar about space/deals/ or bar food?

walk_dar Ireland Local time: 21:17 French to English + ... What sort of numbers are to be expected? | Nov 9, 2015 |
This is rather good timing for me as I'm starting up again as freelance after a long hiatus.
I'm wondering what sort of numbers we're looking at. I organised something like this before and ended up renting a generic room and getting a few Subway platters which seemed to work OK. I might be able to get a room for around 100euro on Pearse St. I'll echo Gallagy's comments that Café en Seine will be too noisy, but it could be good for an after party!

walk_dar Ireland Local time: 21:17 French to English + ... Fortunately the 26th is a Thursday | Nov 10, 2015 |
Hi Marie.
26/11 is a Thursday, so it won't be as bad as if it had been a Friday. I look and listen forward to meeting you.

I vote for the Market Bar! | Nov 12, 2015 |
I think the Market Bar would be perfect - always lots of space in there and they don't have loud music so it will be good for getting to know each other. Their Spanish food is nice too.
Marina Bilak Ireland Local time: 21:17 Member (2011) English to German Sorry I won't make it | Nov 25, 2015 |
Hi Marie and All, I need to travel to a funeral and sadly won't make our powwow. Best wishes, Marina
Hi, Marie, i'm notoriously bad at spotting people i know in a familiar pub, never mind people I have never met, in a pub i have never been to! You mentioned you reserved a spot. Is that in your own name?... or the more intreguing (for a pub) powwow ? Looking forward to tomorrow,
