Hi folks
I've tried 2 things in memoq and couldn't do it. Do you know how the following can be done?
1 - I want to penalize any users in the TM and also corpus except myself, so their hits show under mine in the translation results list.
I tried to change the default settings under Options > Default resources > TM Settings: Clone "Default" setting, then edit it. Adding a user under General - User penalties penalizes that user, so I tried (under Filters) to... See more Hi folks

I tried to change the default settings under Options > Default resources > TM Settings: Clone "Default" setting, then edit it. Adding a user under General - User penalties penalizes that user, so I tried (under Filters) to add a penalty of "Created by is none of (myself)" and "Modified by is none of (myself)", but it didn't work out..
2 - I want the translation result list to prefer newer hits, but it doesn't work out.
I translate a sentence, the next with only 1 small word change doesn't appear in the results list, but other (actually lesser) hits show instead..
How can I do this??
Thanks in advance!

Hey,
The way you set things up with filters should indeed work. You can use either strict filters to completely ignore the hits, or soft filters to set a percentage penalty. Just to check, are you then also applying these TM settings in your project?
As for the hits, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. If you have multiple hits for a segment, they are sorted by match rate first and foremost, then by other criteria such as master/working/reference TM, and finally by... See more Hey,

If you have multiple hits for a segment, they are sorted by match rate first and foremost, then by other criteria such as master/working/reference TM, and finally by date (where the newer result will take preference). Could you maybe provide a simple example of what you mean/what you want to achieve? ▲ Collapse | | | Ömer Maraş Türkiye Local time: 06:35 English to Turkish + ... Thanks for the quick response, but no, the filters did not work (and yes, I applied them to my project as well).
To give an example, I'm using your sentence:
I translate "The way you set things up with filters should indeed work.", then the next sentence is, say, "The way you set things up with filters should POSSIBLY work." and expect the first sentence to show up in the first place as a 90%-95% hit, but no, in my translation results window (of a single big momma TM se... When I make a concordance search, the very sentence shows up top front, but not during translation. So, to come back to our example sentence, I get sentences like "The way you set things up with animals and plants should indeed work." or "The way you get things wrong should indeed work from time to time." show with higher match value.... ▲ Collapse
Hmm... and presumably the segments in your TMs are all saved by your user? Do you have any non-ASCII characters in your username (not even sure if that's permissible, just a thought)? Which version of memoQ are you using?
As for the TM results, just to take your example sentence literally, I get an 80% hit from the TM for that, rather than something in the 90s. Could it be the case that the match rates are simply lower than you would expect them to be? Perhaps try creating a new TM ... Perhaps try creating a new TM and only inserting the two translations so you can see the match rates side by side. ▲ Collapse
