After nearly 40 years of career in the IT department of the Italian subsidiary of a leading American oil company, I have decided to start a new career as a professional freelance translator.
To accomplish my work in the oil company I had to create/use documents in English and to maintain daily contacts with English speaking people. I have working experience, and therefore have fluency in English terminology, in all IT activities: applications, hardware/software/telecommunications/Internet, security/risk management, administration, cost monitoring, training, software manuals translation.
This has greatly enriched my familiarity and fluency with the specific IT-related jargon, but not only.
Further, I have been living and working in England for three years, and, more recently, for a short period in Budapest as a trainer/advisor in a job transition activity.
In the past I have performed several English to Italian translations of various subjects, technical, commercial and also literary for a translation agency of Rome.
More recently (2009) I have worked as an Internet assessor for a U.S. based Translation and Localization Services; in 2010 I have worked as a machine translations quality evaluator (ongoing). |
