The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a worldwide navigation system consisting of
a constellation of 24 satellites and their ground stations. GPS uses these satellites to
calculate positions accurate to a few meters. In a sense, it gives every square meter on
the planet a unique address.
When you use the Geocache Navigator software to search for a cache, the “address”
(the latitude and longitude) of that cache is automatically transferred to the GPS
receiver that is built into your cell phone and it appears on the Compass page. The software also calculates your position (distance and bearing) in relation
to the cache. As you start to move towards the cache, the distance will change as you
move closer to it.
The GPS technology in GPS phones represents the latest advance in GPS: Assisted
GPS or A-GPS. This technology enables the GPS receiver in the phone to perform
even better than a recreational GPS receiver as the cell phone network provides an
approximate location and time, as well as key GPS satellite orbital information.

NOTE – Some phones fully support GPS in and out of network, but some phones will only work
correctly in network.
The GPS antenna in the phone is part of the cell phone antenna. For best reception,
extend the cell phone antenna before you start the Geocache Navigator software. Do
not cover the antenna with your hand during use.
TIP – To acquire satellites more quickly, place the phone on its side or lie it face down. Make
sure that the back of the phone, where the phone antenna is located, is visible to the sky.
Make sure that you are outside and that the phone has an unobstructed view of the sky
before you start the Geocache Navigator software. GPS satellites are often low on the
horizon, so you will achieve the best GPS satellite reception in wide-open spaces.
You cannot use GPS in an enclosed area, for example, in the office or on the subway.
When you use a GPS-enabled phone for outdoor navigation, you will notice an
improvement in functionality when compared to recreational GPS receivers:
• The time taken to acquire GPS signals. When you start the Geocache Navigator
software, you will often acquire good GPS signals in 5-10 seconds. On your
phone the GPS signal bar should be either yellow (good signals) or green
(signals are the best possible). This is 10 times faster than many recreational
GPS receivers.

Rapid GPS satellite acquisition is successful even when you are driving down a
road or when GPS satellite visibility conditions are restricted (for example,
around buildings that block some views to the sky).
CAUTION – Do not use a GPS phone while operating a moving vehicle.

“The LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
—Genesis 2:7
Obviously, there could have been no man prior to the ‘first’ man, so the harmony of the two accounts in Genesis is not in the unscriptural theory of a pre-Adamic human race, but in the fact that the opening chapter of Genesis is a brief, general account of the entire creative work of God which reached its climax in the Creation, and the second chapter is a detailed record of God’s creation of man, his relationship to, and his dealings with him, including the manner in which he was made.
As we study the detailed record of the manner in which man was created, we marvel at its simplicity, and at the same time, its scientific accuracy. We are told that man was formed ‘of the dust of the ground.’ We are not obliged to literalize this to a point that it becomes an absurdity, as though water was mixed with dust and a body was formed with resulting mud. It is simply God’s way of explaining that man’s organism, his body, was made up of various chemical elements found in the earth. Those for whom this record was first designed would not have understood technical and scientific terms, but God has the ability to state himself in simple terms, and has done so in this wonderful text.
The human organism was created, but it had no life. It had eyes, but they saw nothing; a nose, but it did not sense the fragrant odors of the Edenic garden in which this marvelous piece of workmanship was lying. It had a tongue, but it tasted not; and ears to which all sounds were as silence. It had hands, which had no sense of touch. The perfect heart, with its coordinating valves, and its connections with the arteries and veins of that perfect body, was motionless. Its lungs were immobile. It was a perfect organism, with all its intricate parts correctly assembled, as only a master workman, the Creator, could do. But it was a dead, lifeless body.
If man was to live, something more than just a perfect body was needed, and this God supplied. He ‘breathed into his nostrils the breath of life’ and instantly that lifeless organism became alive. The breath of life carried oxygen to the lungs, and they began to function. This induced the heart to start pumping blood through the arteries, returning it through the veins. This brought life pulsations to the nerves, causing the ears to hear, the eyes to see, the nose to smell, the tongue to taste, and the hands to feel. The first man was now alive; he had become a ‘living soul.’
What was this magic power which God breathed into the nostrils of Adam? Some have mistakenly supposed that it was an indestructible, living entity, which had life apart from the organism into which it was breathed, an immortal soul that escaped when Adam’s body died.
The proper, scriptural answer to this question is essential if, in tracing the threads of Truth through the Bible which pertain to the hope of eternal life, we are not to lose our way and go astray. The Hebrew word, which is translated breath in the expression ‘breath of life,’ is n’shamah. This Hebrew word is translated “breath” in Genesis 7:21,22. Describing the destruction wrought by the Deluge, the record reads, “All flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.”
This inspired use of the Hebrew word n’shamah reveals that the lower animals have the same breath of life as that which was breathed into the nostrils of man. We doubt if many will contend that God gave immortal souls to the lower animals. To be consistent we will have to conclude that what the Lord breathed into Adam’s nostrils was not, therefore, an immortal soul, but was, as the record states, the breath of life, the breath by which all breathing creatures are made to live.

Acīmredzot pirms „pirmā” cilvēka nav bijis neviens cilvēks, tāpēc svēto rakstu teorijā abi saskaņotie skaidrojumi Radīšanas stāstā nesakrīt ar svētajos Rakstos nebalstīto teoriju par pirms Ādama cilvēku rasi, bet faktiski ievadnodaļa Radīšanas stāstā ir īss, vispārīgs skaidrojums par radīšanu kopumā, ko veicis Dievs, sasniedzot radīšanas virsotni, bet otrā nodaļa ir detalizēts apraksts par to, kā Dievs radīja cilvēku, viņu attiecības un vienošanās, kā arī veidu, kā cilvēks tika izveidots.
Kad mēs pētām šo detalizēto cilvēka radīšanas aprakstu, mēs brīnāmies par tā vienkāršību, bet vienlaikus arī zinātnisko precizitāti. Mēs sakām, ka cilvēks ir veidots „no zemes pīšļiem”. Nav nepieciešams to uztvert burtiski, novedot to līdz absurdam, ka, lai gan ūdens tika sajaukts ar putekļiem un ķermenis, kas tika izveidots, galu galā bija no dubļiem. Tas vienkārši ir Dieva veids, kā izskaidrot, ka cilvēka organisms, viņa ķermenis ir veidots no dažādiem ķīmiskiem elementiem, kas atrodami zemē. Tie, kam šis aprakts bija sākotnēji dots, varēja nesaprast tehniskos un zinātniskos terminus, bet Dievam bija iespēja izteikt to vienkāršos jēdzienos un izveidot šo brīnišķīgo tekstu.
Cilvēka organisms bija izveidots, bet tam nebija dzīvības. Viņam bija acis, bet tās neredzēja; bija deguns, bet tas nesajuta Ēdenes dārza smaržas, kurā šis brīnumainais meistardarbs gulēja. Viņam bija mēle, bet tā nejuta garšas, un ausis, kurās visas skaņas bija kā klusums. Viņam bija rokas, kurām nebija taustes sajūtas. Nevainojamā sirds ar saskaņotajiem vārstiem un savienojumiem ar šī brīnišķīgā ķermeņa artērijām un vēnām bija stinga. Viņa plaušas bija nekustīgas. Tas bija pilnīgs organisms, kura komplicētās daļas bija nevainojami savienotas, kā to spēj izdarīt vienīgi meistars, Radītājs. Bet tas bija miris, nedzīvs ķermenis.
Lai cilvēks varētu dzīvot, bija nepieciešams kaut kas vairāk par šo perfekto ķermeni, un to Dievs piešķīra. Viņš „iedvesa viņa nāsīs dzīvības dvašu” un tajā brīdī nedzīvais organisms atdzīvojās. Dzīvības elpa ienesa skābekli plaušās un tās sāka darboties. Tas ierosināja sirdi sākt sūknēt asinis caur artērijām, saņemot tās atpakaļ caur vēnām. Tas noveda dzīvības pulsu līdz nerviem, ļaujot ausīm dzirdēt, acīm redzēt, degunam saost, mēlei sajust garšu un rokām kļūt jutīgām. Pirmais cilvēks bija dzīvs, tas bija kļuvis par „dzīvu dvēseli”.
Kas tas par maģisku spēku, kuru Dievs iedvesa Ādama nāsīs? Daži kļūdaini pieņem, ka tā bija neiznīcināma, dzīva būtība, kam bija dzīvība ārpus organisma, kurā tā elpo, nemirstīga dvēsele, kas atstāja Ādamu, kad viņa ķermenis nomira.
Uzticama, svētajos Rakstos balstīta atbilde uz šo jautājumu ir svarīga, lai Patiesības meklējumos Bībelē, kas piedāvā cerību uz mūžīgo dzīvi, mēs nezaudētu ceļu un nenomaldītos. Ebreju vārds n’shamah, kas apzīmē elpu, izteicienā tiek tulkots kā „dzīvības dvaša”. Šis ebreju vārds tiek tulkots kā „dvaša” 1. Mozus 7:21,22. Aprakstot iznīcību, ko nesa Lielie plūdi, ir rakstīts: „Tad nobeidzās ikviena radība, kas kustēja zemes virsū, putni, lopi, zvēri un visi radījumi, kas pulkiem mudž uz zemes, un visi cilvēki.
Viss, kam bija dzīvības dvaša, kas dzīvoja sausumā, nobeidzās.”
Šāds ebreju vārda n’shamah lietojums atklāj, ka zemākajiem dzīvniekiem ir tāda pati dzīvības dvaša, kāda tika iepūsta cilvēka nāsīs. Mēs šaubāmies, vai daudzi gribēs strīdēties par to, ka Dievs zemākajiem dzīvniekiem ir devis nemirstīgu dvēseli. Konsekvences dēļ mums ir jāsecina, ka tas, ko Kungs iepūta Ādama nāsīs tomēr nebija nemirstīga dvēsele, bet gan, kā raksti saka, dzīvības dvaša, dvaša, kas ļauj būt dzīvām visām radībām.
