In translation, I am now active in gaming localization, working with mostly fighting, pirates and educational games. Involved in daily and regular big games localization like Age of Empires, Honor of Kings, Riot and so on. Besides gaming, I also translate technical text like safety in organizations, garments industry, equipment/tool manuals, research reports, medical questionnaires, terms and conditions, user instructions, and many more. I have experience in translating and proofreading literary books, folklore from several countries and 1001 nights. The books are still under publication.
As an instructor, I work as part timer under Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books to teach several classes: editing translation of science and technology text, technology in translation or translation aided tools, and to introduce new translators to the translation industry.
Besides translating, proofreading or editing and teaching, I also write from time to time. I have self-published a book entitled “Titbits for Translators” talking about my experience of becoming a translator, and how readers can be one too. I will contribute ideas in LinkedIn when I am free to share my knowledge and experience, as well as to build networking with those under the same field, translators and editors.
To keep myself a dynamic translator, from time to time, I will join seminars related to translation and editing or language related workshop and courses. I agree that a translator should be like a ninja, if you detect it, then the translation is not good. So, I always try my best to equip myself with knowledge and keep pace with technology.
