Pero en el maratón de cinco horas de preguntas y respuestas, este año se le coló un invitado incómodo, que amenaza con minar la reputación de Buffett como inversor: Goldman Sachs. Y es que el oráculo también se equivoca.
La conducta seguida por la firma en el oscuro mercado de los derivados preocupa a los accionistas de Berkshire, que en plena crisis le confiaron 5.000 millones. Pero como dice Buffett, la reputación se evapora en un minuto. El viernes el banco sufrió uno de los peores días desde que cotiza. Aun así, defendió a Lloyd Blank-fein, su consejero delegado.
Hay quien acusa al oráculo de hipócrita, recordando cómo calificó los productos con los que juega Goldman de "armas de destrucción masiva" o criticó la mentalidad de "casino" en Wall Street. Y ahora trata de influir en el diseño de la legislación para regular los derivados y proteger unas inversiones que en el trimestre le hicieron ganar 1.400 millones.

Source text - English To say that nothing happened on Monday would only be a ‘modest’ exaggeration. The Eurostoxx 50 eased -0.2% lower to close at 2,466. It had gained 1.1% Thursday and then a further 0.6% on Friday. Thus, Monday’s small retracement is hardly exciting. In the US, the S&P 500 closed Monday’s session at 1,418.1, indistinguishable in any meaningful sense from Friday’s close of 1,418.2. There was relevant news flow with the ECB denying it had formulated a plan to cap yields on peripheral government bonds. The spokesperson said “it is absolutely misleading to report on decisions which have not been taken and also on individual views, which have not yet been discussed by the ECB’s Governing Council”.
Eurostoxx 50: 1-Hour Chart
The yields on Italian, Spanish and Portuguese government bonds continued falling Monday with Italian 10-years offering 5.75% at the market close and their Spanish equivalents offering 6.22%. Portugal offers 9.23%. These markets have improved quite noticeably through the past month. On the economy front, the data flow was light with Eurozone construction output the main release on the continent. They show that activity in the sector fell -0.5% m/m in the month of June. Output fell -4.5% q/q in Q1; quite a substantial fall and bigger than any quarterly fall experienced through the recession of 2008 – 2009. The rate of contraction slowed markedly in the second quarter with activity falling -0.4% from the first quarter. Hence the message here is that whilst the Eurozone economy remains lacklustre it is not spiralling down. More stumbling along.

Sur la plaza du Dos-de-Mayo, à l’angle de la rue San-Andrés, un vieux bistrot ne désemplit pas, le jour comme la nuit. Le 2De est l’endroit idéal pour démarrer une soirée. Avec ses colonnes cannelées, ses murs marron et sa musique des années 1980, il semble ne pas être encore entré dans le XXIe siècle. Mais bien des scénarios, des livres et des chansons sont nées ici. Autre lieu incontournable, vestige musical, antre du rock’n roll à la sauce madrilène, la Vía Láctea. Non loin du métro Tribunal, dans la rue de Velarde, il faut faire la queue après minuit pour y entrer. Nico, la muse du Velvet Underground, y a passé de nombreuses soirées. N’hésitez pas à patienter pour vous imprégner de l’esprit grunge, dans cet endroit qui vient de fêter ses 30 ans. Il appartient toujours à la même famille qui, en juillet 1979 a investi cet ancien atelier.

Aarzel niet om even te wachten om je onder te dompelen in de grungy sfeer van deze plek die net zijn dertigste verjaardag heeft gevierd. En die nog altijd in handen is van dezelfde familie die in juli '79 investeerde in dit voormalig atelier.
