Bio
I am from Portugal and became a translator in 2001, majoring in translation and interpretation from EN/FR into PT. A couple of years later, I went to study Spanish and added this language to my portfolio of services offering.
I have been translating since 2001, shortly before I completed my BA Honours in Translation in that same year. I have started on the literature domain, translating 2 books from French into Portuguese, and went from there into more technical fields.
Being passionate about the marketing area I have undertaken a 5 month intensive course (2004) on marketing and tourism in order to better understand it and be able to perform skilful translations on this topic.
I have pursued my education in translation and completed my PgCert in Translation Studies in 2013 with the University of Portsmouth.
In April/May 2018, I have attended a series of 8 webinars on medicine for medical translators in order to continuing settle and better my knowledge about the medical field. Recently, in June/July 2020, I have attended a very interesting online course - “The Clinical Autopsy: Learning to Understand the Language of the Dead”. This course of 50 hours was organised by the Centro de Innovación Docente de UniOviX and was provided by the University of Oviedo. I undertook it in English and Spanish. I have undertaken another course in the medical domain with the University of Salamanca in Spanish (March-June 2022).
Throughout my career I have been performing translations on several different subjects from technical texts to literature. I am passionate about other languages and cultures, and I am fascinated by the broad knowledge a translator can get from doing translations.
My main personal interests are travelling, cooking and reading.
