My native language is English. I translate from French to English, specialising in business, financial, corporate, social sciences and energy/environment texts. Examples include shareholder agreements, financial statements, press releases, software guides and corporate documents such as training guides, RFPs, responses to RFPs, internal business process documents, etc.
My experience as a freelance translator so far has offered me the opportunity to enhance my knowledge of my specialist subjects and also to broaden my horizons by translating texts relating to other areas. I have gained experience of agricultural, medical, engineering and economic terminology in particular. Other projects for which I have received good feedback include restaurant reviews, warehouse management process documents and travel-related texts.
My previous career in management consulting (IT, financial services and social services), project management and customer support (financial services, social services and IT-related) gives me excellent background knowledge and experience for translations and proofreading in these fields. I also have experience in education and child care through previous part-time and volunteer work, and am very familiar with current terminology and English-language writing in these areas. I am passionate about the environment and climate change, as well as fitness and nutrition for sport, and read a lot in these areas.
During 2005 I completed the IoL DipTrans preparatory course (City University, London) and passed the IoL DipTrans exam (Fre-Eng) in Jan 2006. I achieved a Distinction for the Science paper and a Pass for the Business paper. Feedback from the course tutor on my accuracy, style and grammar was consistently good.
