La senadora por el Partido Independentista de Puerto Rico, María de Lourdes Santiago, presenta un proyecto de ley en que obligaba a los galenos a informar a sus pacientes cuantos partos naturales o vía cesárea atendían.
Mientras ese proceso se presentaba, Verónica Español, dula y educadora perinatal celebraba el primer expo maternal en el hospital HIMA de Caguas bajo el tema: El Nuevo Paradigma – volver a lo simple.
En sus palabras: "Estas madres pueden saber más acerca de sus proveedores, no tanto quizá como la práctica, pero si pueden saber su estadística. Obviamente, no es lo mismo saber que el doctor de uno tiene un 80% de cesárea versus a otro colega que tenga un 30 a 40% de cesárea".
Translation - English According to recent data released by the Department of Health of Puerto Rico, in 2010, 46.3% of birth deliveries were cesarean section (C-section). Information provided by the World Health Organization states that Puerto Rico currently surpasses the levels of cesarean birth deliveries.
The Senator of the Puerto Rican Independence Party, María de Lourdes Santiago, presented a draft bill, which compels doctors to inform their patients of how many natural and cesarean births they have attended.
While this process was presented, Verónica Español, doula and perinatal educator, celebrated the first Maternal Expo in the HIMA Hospital in Caguas called: The New Paradigm – back to basics.
In her words: "Mothers will be able to know more about their providers and their statistics. Obviously, it is not the same for your doctor to have an 80% cesarean rate versus another colleague with a 30 to 40% cesarean rate."

Source text - English Ciprofloxacin is a quinolone with bactericidal and bacteriostatic activity, which result from an interference with DNA gyrase, an enzyme needed by the bacterium for the synthesis of DNA. Thus, the vital information from the bacterial chromosomes cannot be transcribed any longer which causes the bacterial metabolism to be unsettled. Ciprofloxacin has in vitro activity against most aerobic Gram negative bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is also effective against aerobic Gram positive bacteria, such as Staphylococci and Streptococci.
XXXX products containing ciprofloxacin for ocular use are indicated for the treatment of conjunctivitis and blepharitis caused by bacteria susceptible to ciprofloxacin. The existing dosage forms for ophthalmic use are eye drops, solution and eye ointment.
Translation - Spanish La ciprofloxacina es una quinolona con actividad bactericida y bacteriostática que resulta de una interferencia con ADN girasa, una enzima requerida por la bacteria para la síntesis de ADN. Por tanto, la información vital de los cromosomas bacterianos no puede ser transcrita por más tiempo, ya que causa inestabilidad en el metabolismo bacteriano.
