Bio
Why do I enjoy working in localisation and MTPE?
Localisation and MTPE have one thing in common: the projects are clearly defined and structured.Clear guidelines (linguistic, brand etc.), clear objectives, and a communicative team allow the translator to focus on the creative problem-solving task that lies ahead, without having to guess what the end client wants or needs. You can concentrate on what matters, namely delivering work that suits the target audience's needs for a piece of content in their mother tongue.
What do I localise?
I mainly focus on localising web content dedicated to marketing, e-commerce, hospitality, tourism, food and fashion. Occasionally I localise keywords, descriptions and headlines for SEO purposes if the clients require it. I work essentially with English, Spanish, Portuguese and French (ENG/SP/PT>FR; ENG/SP/FR>PT).
Why do you like MTPE?
I studied computational linguistics and linguistics. MT and all the language technologies always interested me from a theoretical point of view. I enjoy working with CAT tools and data bases. I also enjoy editing and reviewing MT. I do both heavy and light MTPE. The tasks can be challenging, but MTPE is never boring, and its versatility attracts me.
What makes me a good professional?
I am well versed with words, systematic, creative and proactive. I am not scared of asking questions and I like to be well prepared for each task I undertake. I keep updated on the newest technologies in the industry and I regularly refresh my knowledge with courses on different subjects to keep up with my job's needs. I love to learn and grow as a professional and I appreciate to work with friendly and outspoken teams who value good communication and team spirit.
