Mrs. Judy O’Flannagan from Ballyamosduff (Ireland) woke up one morning in 1964 and found her house entirely immersed in a purple cloud. Together with her sister Sheena, she tried to dispel it in every possible way: waving sheets, throwing buckets of water and praying in Gaelic.
Only after a while did the lady realize that the end of an exceptionally huge and compact rainbow had actually settled over her house. The cloud had been caused by one of the strips of color.
The fire brigade, immediately intervened and even managed to climb a few meters up the rainbow, but they had to give up in the end because of the humidity and the slippery surface.
Fortunately, the rainbow disappeared soon afterwards, as quickly as it had appeared. There were no unpleasant consequences for Mrs. O’Flannagan’s house, except that all her husband's shirts came out tinted slightly pink from the iridescent bath.
A similar phenomenon was recorded at the other end of the rainbow, exactly six miles away in Bailieborough , at Mrs. Edna O’Raferty’s farm. The only difference was that over there the halo was yellow- colored and that her husband ,Paddy O’Raferty, showed little imagination and little knowledge of weather and never believed his wife’s explanation about his shirts.
“In my opinion it was a damned colored sock that got into the laundry by mistake and stained all my shirts,” he declared to the press.
A team of scientists from Belfast University went to the spot. Their conclusions were never made public.
Mr. Jacques “Jojo” Dubois from Arles(France) has a strange peculiarity. He is the only fisherman in the world who, in his stories, decreases the length and weight of his catch. For example, last month, after having caught a seven kilo carp he told his friends at the bar that he had captured one weighing four and half kilos.
His incredible case is currently under scientific examination.

Doamna Judy O’Flannagan din Ballyamosduff (Irlanda), s-a trezit într-o dimineață din anul 1964 găsindu-și casa inundată de o ceață purpurie. Împreună cu sora ei Sheena, au încercat să o înlăture în toate modurile posibile: fluturând pături în aer, aruncând găleți cu apă și rugându-se în galeză.
Doar după o vreme și-a dat seama că de fapt capătul unui curcubeu enorm și compact se așezase deasupra casei sale.
Ceața provenise dintr-una din fâșiile de culoare.
Pompierii care interveniseră de urgență au reușit chiar să se cațăre câțiva metri sus pe curcubeu, dar au fost nevoiți să renunțe într-un final datorită umidității și suprafeței alunecoase.
Din fericire, curcubeul a dispărut la scurt timp la fel de repede cum apăruse.Nu au fost alte urmări neplăcute pentru locuința doamnei O'Flannagan decât că toate cămășile soțului ei căpătaseră o ușoară tentă de roz în urma ceții irizate.
Un fenomen similar a fost înregistrat la celălalt capăt al curcubeului, la exact 10 km distanță în Bailieborough, la ferma doamnei Edna O’Raferty.Singura diferență a fost că acolo aureola fusese de culoare galbenă și că Paddy O’Raferty, soțul doamnei, a dat dovadă de foarte puțină imaginație și cunoștințe de meteorologie și nu a crezut niciodată explicația soției sale referitor la culoarea cămășilor.
