Bio
I am a Portuguese translator and proofreader from Porto, with a Master's Degree in Specialised Translation and Interpreting from ISCAP (2014-2016), where I had previously earned my Bachelor's Degree in Administrative Assistance and Translation (2011-2014).
I have been working as a freelance translator since 2015, translating from English and Spanish into European Portuguese. I specialise in literary, legal, pharmaceutical and medical translation. I am also a specialist in combat sports.
Since the beginning of my career, I have been working with clients and translation agencies from across the world. I have translated for major companies and brands based in Europe, Asia and South America. In the literary field, I have had the privilege of translating short stories by distinguished authors such as F. Scott Fitzgerald and Edgar Allan Poe.
My Master's dissertation on literary translation, which can be read in Portuguese here, was awarded a top score (20/20) by the academic jury and won the 2017 CEI Award for Best Final Project Report/Dissertation in the field of Intercultural Studies. Thanks to my work, I also earned a merit grant by the DGES (Portuguese Directorate General for Higher Education). In December 2017, I presented a conference at Centro de Estudos Interculturais, in Porto, about my thesis: Combat Terminology in Literary Translation in The Professor in the Cage, by Jonathan Gottschall.
As a professional, I am known for my on-time delivery, use of accurate terminology and flexibility. I am devoted to my work and, in addition to my translation skills, I dedicate a substantial amount of time to the proofreading and quality assurance stages of all my projects. I also have 10+ years worth of experience with CAT tools. In recent years, I have also been involved in several large MTPE projects, mainly for major clients in the retail industry.
In addition to my career, I am a trained boxer and former federate athlete (in combat sports) and a trained video technician (having completed my specialised secondary education in EASR).
