English to Turkish: Introduction text in "New Media Reader" General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Media / Multimedia
Source text - English For Vannevar Bush, the scientist, the world is not an imprisoning labyrinth, but a challenging maze, wating to be solved by an appropriately organized and clever team effort. Like Borges, Bush imagines alternate libraries. But where Borges's visions are playful and subversive of rationalist exploration, Bush dreams of the hyperrational. He is alarmed to discover that the library shelf is no longer an adequate map of knowledge. Book-based organisational structures have been outpaced by the tempo of investigation, and no longer reflect the constantly reformulating disciplinary boundaries of contemporary scholarship.

What my experience showed is, being a good translator means having a good command of the target language. This is the only way to support the development of a language. As someone who is aware of the ideologic power of language, I undertake the mission of developing the target language. In this context I take the responsibility of accuracy of my own translations and texts, and the responsibility of keeping the language alive.
Besides my relation to writing, editing and translating, I've been practicing and learning yoga and meditation since 10 years. I'm a professional yoga teacher and I'm familiar with/interested also in spiritual and Eastern Philosophy texts... Please visit my website: http://bihteryoga.com
