Translation - English The global non-life insurance market is expected to grow by 3% in 2019. Thus, in a context of slowing economic growth, advanced markets would experience a growth rate of non-life premiums around 2%, compared to a forecast of 5.8% in emerging markets, a real driving force of global insurance growth.
Non-life business in China and India was particularly strong, with premiums increasing by 9% and 11% respectively, thanks to agricultural insurance. Growth in India was also boosted by the auto sector, in contrast to China, where it slowed as a result of lower car sales and market liberalisation.
The overall profitability of non-life insurance, measured by return on equity (ROE), improved slightly in Europe and Asia-Pacific area in the first half of 2019 compared to 2018. In North America, the ROE was boosted by profits in the first months of the year. However, the prospects for profitability remain uncertain given the still difficult investment environment with very low interest rates and high volatility in asset prices.
In the United States, the sector’s technical result would show an improvement, with a combined ratio estimated at 98% in 2019 compared to 99% in 2018. These forecasts are based on claim expenses linked to catastrophic risks, less important than that of 2018.
In Canada, the results of the subscription remain under pressure. The combined ratio of the non-life sector was over 100% in the first half of 2019, due to the high frequency and severity of weather events.
In the first half of 2019, the European non-life insurance sector recorded a combined ratio of 93%, down 1 percentage point compared to 2018. Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom saw further improvements due to improved performance in the Auto sector. In Germany, car claims are up, unlike property claims, which are down compared to high levels in 2018.

Bio
I am a professional English to Arabic
translator. I was born and raised in Morocco. I have always shown great
interest in languages. So, after getting my baccalaureate, I opted for English
studies because I fell in love with this language before I started studying it at
school. Pushed by my love for languages, I decided to study a master’s degree in translation and I received it in 2012 from the King Fahd School of Translation in Tangier,
Morocco, in Arabic-English- French combination. Afterwards, I worked as a
freelance translator for two years. After that, I started a career in teaching
English as a foreign language to high school students. Since then, I have
always tried to do both in parallel.I spend my free time doing some woodwork, reading literature, studying
languages alongside some other hobbies.
