Bio
Here's my story of how, in 5 years, I went from being a freelance translator to a junior scientific editor and professional medical translator at the largest publishing house in Russia.

I cannot at the present moment recall when I began to translate. Although I have been doing it for about 6-7 years, it was not my full-time main job, but not anymore.
So let me tell you how it came about.
I was a student at a medical university in Russia, but my dreams of becoming a doctor did not come to true. I did, however, study anatomy, biochemistry, and more, as well as English, which had to be used to read medical literature.
It was at this time that the students were seeking the money they needed to get their education, so that my career as a translator of professional medical literature began. A few years later, in 2008, I graduated from the University of Medicine.
Here are some examples of topics for translating medical literature from English into Russian:
- plastic surgery
- Clinical trials and results
- Medical equipment, instructions
- pharmaceutical industry
- Bronchopulmonary system and diseases
- anatomy
- orthopaedics
- cardiology

After graduating from my University in a field completely unrelated to linguistics, I worked as a freelance translator for a long time and quite successfully. Then I left Russia for good. This became possible thanks to the money I earned, to a certain extent, by working as a translator.

For the last ten years I've been living in Egypt.

To this day, I am still working as a translator; however, In addition to my skills, I started working as a freelance interpreter. I want to note that I would love to avoid this. Truth be told I'm not too good against stress offline. I love books.
When I got word of the possibility to join the team, I was elated to be a part of the Eksmo Publishing House projects. Well, for the company, in recent years I have been translating medical books, books about medicine, or books directly related to it.

Here are some examples:
Advanced Cardiovascular Exercise Physiology, 2nd Edition (authors: Denise L. Smith and Bo Fernhall)
The Complete Human Body: The Definitive Visual Guide (prof. Alice Roberts)
The Pocket Atlas of Human Anatomy (Chris Jarmey)
Etc.
