English to Spanish: Translation of an article on the evolution of salaries in Information Technology General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: IT (Information Technology)
Source text - English Over the past few decades, information technology jobs have been considered one of the most stable, fast-growing, and lucrative options for making a living, especially during the boom of the dot-com era in the 90s. However, new research shows that the reality of wages in IT is different. After the dot-com boom, wage growth in these jobs has become more moderate, especially outside of major cities, and now resembles wage patterns in broader STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) areas. Furthermore, in regions where competition for IT talent is high, top professionals no longer receive the same wage premium over their average-performing peers.
In summary, although wages in IT remain high compared to many other occupations, they have lost some of their "exceptional" appeal. Nowadays, wage premiums in IT are more related to where the work is done than to specific skills.
