(tempo de) permanência

Creio que trata-se de uma referência ao tempo de permanência do dióxido de carbono na atmosfera. Favor ler abaixo.
Residence Time (RT)

The driver for this study is the wide-ranging published values of the CO2 atmospheric residence time (RT), τ, with the values differing by more than an order of magnitude, where the significance of the difference relates to decisions on whether (1) to attempt control of combustion-sourced (anthropogenic) CO2 emissions, if τ > 100 years, or (2) not to attempt control, if τ 10 years.

-The performance of these materials was higher than that attainable with commercial zeolites but they deactivate with long residence times and their regeneration is not efficient due to the low thermial stability of the sulfonic groups (250 ºC)....O desempenho catalítico destes materiais foi superior ao obtido com zéolitos comerciais, mas desactivam com o aumento do tempo de residência e, dada a estabilidade térmica dos grupos sulfónicos (até 250 ºC), a sua regeneração não é eficiente
