Source text - English Eroticism has this in common with an addictive drug: that there is a coercive element to its pleasure with which part of us is in complicity, and part not. Thus ever since time began men have been trying to enjoy eroticism without being destroyed by it. Societies, religions can be defined in the way they deal with this conundrum. Polygamy, monogamy with repression, monogamy with affairs, monogamy with prostitutes, serial monogamy. Not to mention individual solutions of great ingenuity, or desperation: Victor Hugo with the door knocked through the wall of his office, to let in a girl each afternoon. Auden's flair for finding call-boys in every town. Picasso who simply refused when wife and mistress demanded he choose between them. Then there is always the hair-shirt of course. But perhaps the thing to remember when you wake up with a life full of fresh paint and tortuous complications is that eroticism wasn't invented for you, nor merely for the survival of the species perhaps, but for a divinity's entertainment. Nothing generates so many opportunities for titillation and schadenfreude as eroticism. Which is why it lies at the centre of so much narrative. How the gods thronged the balconies of heaven to see the consequences of Helen's betrayal! And your friends are watching too. Your antics have put the shine on many a late-night conversation.
On the borders between mythology and history, that wily survivor Odysseus was the first who learnt to trick the gods. And perhaps his smartest trick of all was that of lashing himself to the mast before the Sirens came in earshot. There are those of course who are happy to stand at the railings, even scan the horizon. Otherwise, choose your mast, find the ropes that suit you: sport, workaholism, celibacy with prayerbook and bell... But the kindest and toughest ropes of all are probably to be found in some suburban semi-detached with rowdy children and a woman who never allows the dust to settle for too long.

I) Que se presentó la actora (fs. 5) iniciando juicio de divorcio contra M.C., fundándose en que: contrajeron matrimonio el 15-10-70 (testimonio de partida adjunto); que al poco tiempo de la celebración del mismo, se suscitaron graves y constantes riñas y disputas debido al carácter del esposo, que hicieron imposible la vida en común y provocaron la separación de hecho; que del matrimonio nació una hija, el 26 de setiembre de 1971, sobre cuya tenencia, régimen de visitas y pensión alimenticia se presentó convenio ante la Sede a efectos de ser homologado judicialmente (fs. 17 y 18). La demandante ofreció prueba, y se amparó en los arts. 187 y 148, inc. 6º del C.C., solicitando se decrete el divorcio por la causal invocada.
II) Que por auto de 17/10/87 se decretó la separación provisional, y se dio traslado de la demanda, no habiendo sido ésta contestada, por lo que le fue acusada la rebeldía a la contraparte, la cual fue declarada rebelde en la instancia (fs. 8).

Si repasamos los conceptos más elementales sobre la protección que una marca o un patente otorgan a su titular, veremos que en sustancia dicha protección se puede concretar en lo que podría llamarse “derecho de exclusividad”.
El titular de una marca o patente tiene, durante el período de vigencia de la misma, el derecho exclusivo de utilizar su invención o su marca y de autorizar a otros para que lo hagan.
De allí que cuando alguien sin autorización del titular utiliza una marca de propiedad ajena o se sirve de un invento ajeno en las mismas circunstancias, infringe los derechos de su titular y viola las disposiciones de la ley.
Hay un capítulo en la ley uruguaya pertinente denominado “disposiciones penales”, que contempla los delitos posibles. Pero, en realidad, como nuestra jurisprudencia lo ha reconocido repetidamente, no se limita exclusivamente a la ley penal sino que también contempla distintas hipótesis de violaciones de carácter civil.
En estas disposiciones se prevén los casos de uso, falsificación, adulteración, imitación, relleno de envases con marca ajena, venta de mercaderías señaladas con marcas no autorizadas, etc.

A review of the most basic concepts relative to the protection of proprietary rights conferred by trademarks or patents to the holders thereof, will reveal that such protection might essentially be defined as “a right of exclusivity”.
The proprietor of a trademark or a patent, during the effective term thereof, has an exclusive right to use his or her invention or trademark and to license others to do so.
Therefore, when any unauthorized party makes use of somebody else’s trademark or invention, said party is thereby infringing upon the rights of the proprietors and violating the applicable law.
A section of the relevant Uruguayan law mentions a number of possible offenses under the caption of “Criminal Provisions”. However, it is not concerned only with infringements punishable under the criminal law, as it has been frequently pointed out by court decisions, but includes a variety of situations where the infringements violate provisions under the civil law as well.
Said provisions mention unauthorized use, forgery, adulteration, imitation, bottling of beverages under a third-party trademark, sale of goods under unauthorized brandnames, etc.

Source text - Spanish Las bolsas presentaron retrocesos a nivel global, en un semana marcada por los bajos volúmenes de transacciones en el contexto de la Navidad.
EE.UU terminó en números rojos, evidenciando las mayores caídas el sector financiero y de consumo discrecional. La semana estuvo marcada por los datos económicos mayormente negativos y revisiones a la baja en los resultados corporativos y en las expectativas de ganancias de los analistas. Entre los datos económicos se destacaron la caída mayor a la esperada en las ventas de viviendas (Ver Comentario), la reducción del consumo por encima de los previsto durante el tercer trimestre y el aumento al máximo en 26 años en las solicitudes iniciales de desempleo. Al final de la semana, exisitieron dos días de avances, en el marco del anuncio de GMAC (Ver Gráfica de la Semana), resultados menos malos a los esperados en el gasto del consumo y órdenes de bienes durables de noviembre, y un rally en las cotizaciones del sector de energía y materiales. En tanto, los bonos soberanos presentaron la primera semana de retrocesos en dos meses, mientras que los bonos corporativos de grado de inversión y de alto rendimientos, exhibieron una nueva semana de ganancias.
En Europa, las cotizaciones también culminaron con retrocesos. En U.K, la variación del PBI del tercer trimestre mostró la contracción más severa desde 1990. Adicionalmente, se conoció el dato de aprobaciones de préstamos al sector hipotecario, el cual mostró una caída interanual de 61% en noviembre, alcanzando el mínimo valor en 14 años y alimentando pronósticos de caídas adicionales de 10% en los precios de las viviendas para el año 2009.
En tanto, Japón logró cerrar la tercera semana consecutiva de avances, a pesar de datos económicos sombríos. Toyota anunció la primer pérdida en 71 años en sus resultados fiscales, mientras que la producción industrial se contrajo el máximo en 55 años durante noviembre. Sin embargo, las medidas anunciadas por la autoridad monetaria, y la primera semana de debilitamiento del yen frente al dólar en dos meses, alentaron las movidas al alza en el sector exportador.
Los mercados emergentes resumieron correcciones negativas. In the U.S., markets wrapped up the week in red. The largest drops were seen in the financial and discretionary consumption sectors. The week was marked by the mostly negative economic data and downward adjustments on corporate results and analysts’ earning forecasts. Notable among the economic data were a larger- than-expected drop in home sales (see Comment), a deeper-than-foreseen plunge in consumption during the third quarter, and the largest increase in 26 years of initial applications for unemployment benefits. The two last days of the week showed improvements, driven by the GMAC announcement (see Chart of the Week), better consumer spending results than expected, and November orders for durable goods, as well as by rallying prices for energy and materials. On the other hand, sovereign bonds experienced losses during this week for the first time in two months, whereas high investment grade-, high yield corporate bonds showed again a week of earnings.
In Europe, the week also closed with drops in quotes.
In the U.K., the third quarter GDP variance reflected the steepest drop since 1990. In addition, the approved number of mortgage loans was published and showed a year-to-date fall in November of 61%. This result, representing the minimum level in 14 years, fueled forecasts for further drops of 10% in the prices for homes in 2009.
Japan on the other hand, succeeded in closing with earnings for the third consecutive week, despite the bleak economic data.
