Translating dialect/sociolect

Hello all,
I'm having some trouble finding a book/script etc (preferably spanish) which has been translated into a substandard variety of English. I am particularly interested in seeing how translators have dealt with the issue of translating linguistic variation and would appreciate any leads you could give me.

Translations of "La Haine"? Jun 2, 2011

The French film "La Haine" strikes me as a film that (a) is quite famous, and so probably has a few translations where people have made some kind of reasonable attempt, and (b) contains quite a lot of "sociolectally marked" language (Parisian slang).

that I have always found very impressive, is Eliza Doolittle's Cockney as re-orchestrated as a Berlin "dialect" for the German "My Fair Lady". It all raises the issue of that a dialect can be treated as a language in its own right, but a sociolect possibly not?

I think the film is called a Pig named Babe or soemthing. Anyway, the translation into German for Austrian audiences made use of lots of regional dialects (for once the synchronised version was at least as good as the original). Not sude whether this is of any use to you at all, of course!
