Hello!

In France, it's necessary to do an administrative process to become a sworn translator. I'm a sworn translator in Spain, and I'd like to do sworn translations into french, so I have to do the administrative process, that take place only on march.
I'm allowed to do sworn translations before this date?

Thank you for your answers!

You have to wait Sep 27, 2012

Dear Eva,

I think you must wait for your application to be officially accepted before being authorized to deliver sworn translations.
Maybe you should try to have a look at the French forum under "traducteur assermenté" or "assermentation".
You can also contact the UNETICA for more info: http://www.unetica.fr/

Regards,

Nelia

Well, I'm not sure I understood your question right...
You are based in Spain, aren't you? If yes, I think you only need to have the official Spanish authorization to deliver sworn translations.
As far as I know, you cannot be "assermenté" by a French court if you live outside France.

If French clients require sworn translations to be used in France (generally for administrative purposes), they probably need to contact a translator who is sworn in France. What do you

Hi Nelia! Fine that you write me, i've contacted l'annuaire des traducteurs assermentés (http://www.annuaire-traducteur-assermente.fr/) and they've explained to me how it goes (i wanted to write it here later, but i do that now):

Hi Nelia! Fine that you write me, i've contacted l'annuaire des traducteurs assermentés (http://www.annuaire-traducteur-assermente.fr/) and they've explained to me how it goes (i wanted to write it here later, but i do that now):

- if the translation is for french authorities, you must be sworn in France with the french administrative process
- if the translation is for another french speaking country (Belgium) it's not necessary, you must be sworn translator in your country and this is enough, but you have to add the Haya apostille.

So, i have to wait, and yes, you're right, you must live in France (i do).

Thank you for your help, Nelia!

Kind regards

I don't agree, it can be like that, but then, all the sworn translators who want to translate into french and who live in Spain, for example, what do they do? It's very strange. But thanks a lot about your information about my source, I will find another one, but I've allready loose an important job because of this

Thank you very much!
