This is a clinical trial protocol on the use of a certain drug in renal transplant recipients. This is the context:
"Dado el carácter retrospectivo del presente estudio, la fuente de información será en todos los casos la historia clínica de los pacientes. El estudio se realizará en las unidades de seguimiento de pacientes receptores de un trasplante renal de los centros participantes, ***recogiéndose las condiciones de actuación médica*** según la práctica clínica habitual."
The data collected in the study relates to when this drug is given and what the calcium and phosphorus blood levels are at baseline and later.
I'm not sure what "condiciones de actuación médica" means if the very next bit is "according to routine clinical practice".

Hi Emma,
I've been translating medical surveys on a regular basis for several years now, so am very familiar with the language used.
To me, this is classic redundancy: 'recogiéndose las condiciones de' and 'según la' are essentially saying the same thing, so nuke it, I say!; it's just how Spaniards choose to emphasise. We don't do it this way in English, though...
Note my 1 reference I am providing is for 'direct' hits.

: I agree with the translation suggested. Maybe "In compliance" can be used as a synonim for "in accordance" in case of multiples sentences with same term. Regards. Roberto

I see where you're coming from... How about something like: 'and the medical procedures undertaken/carried out were recorded/registered according to standard clinical practice'.
I think the sentence means "what doctors did in the course of their routine clinical practice", but I need to find a better way of saying "what doctors did".
