Throughout the book I make reference to high-rise buildings, which also include other standpipe-equipped buildings, from low-rise buildings, to the so-called "wide-rise" buildings. Many wide-rises, such as large warehouses, may only be one story in height, but still have as much square footage as many high-rise buildings. Wide-rise buildings are sometimes compared to a high-rise lying on its side.
