French term

10ha 44A 15CA

French to English Law/Patents Real Estate from a Moroccan Promesse Synalagmatique de Vente
"La totalité de la propriété sis à XXX, consistant en un terrain nu d'une superficie totale de Dix Hectares Quarante Quatre Ares Et Quinze Centiares (10ha 44A 15CA)."

Is this 10,044,015 m2?

Many thanks for your help.

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

104,415 square metres

This is more of an arithmetic question than a translation, but:

10 hectares = 10 x 10,000 = 100,000 sq m
44 ares = 44 x 100 = 4,400 sq m
15 centiares = 15 sq m
Total: 104,415 sq m

I agree that you should convert it into square metres - all these ares and centiares are thoroughly confusing.

See the conversion table here:

agree Didier Fourcot : This is a French version of the legalese, used by our "notaires" who can write this in letters in their contracts

Would a French person have the same trouble understanding this as we do?
agree Tony M : It would probably be preferable to say 10.4415 ha
