Spanish term

ría húmeda

Spanish to English Social Sciences Geography
In a book from Spain on a historical view of its architecture and construction, for translation to British English. This part refers to the Madrid-Río project reclaiming part of the land near the river Manzanares, specifically referring to the part called the Huerta de la Partida, near Madrid's historic centre. I only recognise "ría" as an estuary or similar, but this cannot apply here on a hill in the middle of Spain.

I don't think there's actually any such thing as a "ría húmeda". Most instances of this that you get in Google turn out to be "fría-húmeda" or "materia húmeda", or something. The expression is used in a few pages in this context in relation to the Parque Madrid Rió, using exactly the same phrase as in your text:

I think this started life as a typo for "vía húmeda" and has been reproduced by copying and pasting. "Vía húmeda" would simply mean a waterway.
