Hi everyone,
I'm working on a Palestinian novel where the main characters are a mother and daughter.
This saying came up and I'm not sure how to apply it in this context. The daughter is leaving the mother for the second time to go abroad.
This is the mother speaking to herself:
سعيتُ إلى إقتناع نفسي، من باب تصبيرها على عدم التقاتتك غير المتقصّدة على ما آمل، بأنك لعلك "أسلمته المحاجر" من بعيد.

مرحباً أستاذتي الكريمة،
كتبُ هذه الإجابة لأمرين
1- أن أسجل اعتقادي بوجود خطأ في الجملة العربية التي أوردتِها
2- شرح التعبير المقصود لأني أفهم المقصود منه، مع التنبيه إلى أني لا أتخصص في الترجمة الأدبية فما عليكِ بأس في أن تتركي ترجمتي وتضعي ترجمة من عندكِ بعد فهم التعبير.
نأتي إلى "أسلمته المحاجر":
وهو اقتباس من أحد بيتين مشهورين مختلف في نسبتهما إلى عدة شعراء، والبيتين هما:
ومما شجاني أنها يوم ودّعت = تولّت وماء العين في الجفن حائر
فلمّا أعادت من بعيد بنظرة =إليّ التفاتا أسلمته المحاجر
يقول الشاعر أن محبوبته لما بعُدت عنه ظلت دموعه حائرة في جفونه أي ليست عيونه جافه ولا دموعه منهمرة بل هو في حال بين الحالين دموعه موجودة لكنها بقيت في الجفون ولم تنزل كالمحتارة،
فلما التفت إليه المحبوبة التفاتةً، أسلمت محاجره أي عيونه الدموع، أي هطلت وانهمرت وغزرت هذه الدموع تأثراً من التفاتة المحبوبة إليه، فكأن محاجر العيون أسلمت الدموع بعد أن ظلت ممسكة بها برهة من الزمن.
كتبُ هذه الإجابة لأمرين
