Sam Berner (X)
: make it "law enforcers" because it looks to me from context like some form of police

reinforcement, back up force
In the absence of full context, there is no way to provide a certain answer. The literal meaning of أعوان points to a team that would provide help, aid, support, etc., but the explanation given points to a force that would attempt to overcome armed and dangerous outlaws. The only terms that I could think of that would satisfy both meanings at the same time are "reinforcement" and "back up force."
Discussion
are the men who gave aid to that time. would be so much similer to policemen nowadays , i guess.
thank you again for your help and many thanks to all of you
