giusto per equità proporrei anche l'ipotesi opposta: considerata la libertà di linguaggio degli americani interpreterei questo neologismo - to error something - come "label as an error".

: Secondo me le due interpretazioni sono uguali (il segnale di allerta è in realtà un falso allarme) ma "eliminare come errore" lo esprime con più chiarezza.

Ask who wrote it what they meant.
I am from UK and my first reaction was that this was an American colloquial phrase, but it doesn't Google as a verb at all, except as making too many mistakes in a quiz. Only the author knows what it is supposed to mean. I would guess it means to "cancellare" the default alert, and select alerts from a list.
