The final calculated size distribution is displayed as a histogram representing the percentage of sample within discreet size bands. Size distribution is typically volume based, and is represented in terms of equivalent sphere diameters.
For the following validation, all results will be reported in terms of particle diameter, and volume % **undersize**.
The values most commonly reported include the D(v,0.1), D(0.5) and D(0.9), where D = particle diameter (in microns).
The D(v,0.1), D(v,0.5) and D(v,0.9) represent the 10%, 50% and 90% **undersize** values, respectively.
For example, a D(v,0.9) of 10.0 means that 90% of the total sample volume is from particles with a calculated diameter of 10.0 microns or less.
