Within the context below, not sure if it could be liability as that's the only thing that comes to mind here in a shareholder's agreement where shares are being sold. Help much appreciated thanks

Situation with regard to
While I agree that Patrick's translation is literally correct, I don't think one would put it that way in a similar document drafted in English. The problem with using the word "future" (and which doesn't actually affect the French "sort"), is that the document will still exist and be valid when it has become the past.
So, the above is something I think would work as a heading for the English translation of that section of the document.

: A whole sentence for one word? And does not translate the meaning of 'sort' which is what we are looking for.

As this is a header, it needs to adequately introduce what follows, rather than be a strict translation of the header in the source text.

: I agree; sometimes there simply isn't a facile one-to-one correspondence between FR and EN. Like you, I just don't think we'd express this in the same sort of way in EN.

Thanks Tony. Yes, it is a bit awkward: perhaps "Situation for/re ... ".

Prospects/future
sort here looks like it is related to the future,ot these entities (what is going to happen to them).... Seems to make sense with the fact shares are sold so the future of the companies/entities might be specific when they are not french

: Wrong register!// See my rather less poetic take on it in the answer I've just posted.

Possible. Ce que j'en comprends c'est: le sort réservé aux entitées non françaises, donc ce qui attend ces entités. Que proposez-vous qui soit 'the right register'?

: Right idea, but would only really work if there was an outcome to some specific happening, which I don't quite see from the small amount of context we have.
